“The vision of a pioneer can unearth the beauty in all.”
This is a quick article on how the gallery showing was on April 1st, 2011. It was my first showing, and quite the privilege! Thanks to my sister, Spring, for capturing the night on her camera!
Being my first showing, I had a lot to learn within the two weeks before opening night. I had to research printers, and framers, type a bio, buy a suitable outfit...needless to say, I was pretty busy.
When I arrived to South Street Gallery in Honolulu around 6pm there were about 20 people there. By the end of the night, though, the count was at least 200! My photos were placed right near the door, so plenty of exposure by all who entered....even for those who peek through the windows in later days. My photos will hang for one month, and can be sold if anyone shows interest. I had to give prices before I knew how much it cost to print/frame, so I think I over priced the pictures at $600 each. I would rather keep them though, instead of selling them for less than cost. Though it was a learning experience, it was much different than I expected.
For a place loaded with art, and like minded people, I thought there would be more socializing. I know it is what you make of it, but I was hoping to meet other photographers, and possibly people that were interested in my work. No such luck! Next time I will make a point to introduce myself and meet the others.
