MiMOSA Live in Honolulu 3.09.12

As most of you may or may not know, I’ve been messing with video and editing lately. When I found out my favorite dubstep artist was coming to the island I dug deep to make the connections that would get me backstage filming him. It’s an island, so I didn’t have to dig far :D I was able to get access and film Tigran Mimosa from backstage and capture his explosive performance. I also to some snap shots which you can see in the video and the gallery below. Enjoy!

Photography Inspiration No. 2 – Gregory Crewdson

Gregory Crewdson combines great photography with my love of movies. Every picture he makes has a very cinematic look with exceptional lighting that creates a mysterious, and sometimes eerie, environment. He builds a lot of his own sets and really makes a production out of each photo. I would love to create some photos like this, but I need a few more speedlights, and about 39 more crew members! :D

Photography Inspiration No. 1 – Stanley Kubrick

Here’s a bit of inspiration for everyone this week. I know Stanley Kubrick was mostly known for his brilliant movies, but with his background of photography and lighting he has been able to create some magical scenes. I’m listing him as number one because as I was growing up and taking more and more pictures, I always had his films in the back of my mind. His movies were so “artistic” as I called them. My friend and I would go to a forest or lake and take “artistic” Kubrick shots. He was so inspiring and he opened my eyes to artistic visualizing.
