Artistic Composition is a Choice

Painting by Claude Monet.

If you go into a restaurant and the waitress tells you they serve two things; an egg sandwich, and a steak and egg sandwich without the steak. This leaves you no  real choice. You’re stuck with what you’re served whether you like it or not. This is the case with life, you have to take the hand you are dealt. But this doesn’t mean you have to settle for less.

If you want to be a doctor, then get to studying. Your education is the key to more choices in life. As they say, no one can take that away from you. Want to learn artistic composition? You are in the right place. Learning the techniques listed in the Canon of Design will give you the choices any artist needs to create a remarkable work of art. Don’t settle for someone telling you that there are rules to follow, or allow them to choose for you. Use these techniques as tools to clearly communicate your message with vigor which was once only obtained by the masters. You have choices, plenty of them, but you have to be able to recognize them and muster up some effort to make them valuable to your goals.

What choices have you made to improve your artistic goals? Are you going back to school, watching youtube videos, reading books, working with a mentor? These are all serious questions you must ask yourself to keep things in line.
