Squinting is a technique used by the majority of artists to desaturate your view and locate the tones and values easier. It’s also great for grouping details into a larger mass which is easier to incorporate into your painting, sketch, or design of your photo. It will illuminate the edge in areas and show where the contrast between foreground and background reduces.
