In the following interview we can hear Henri Cartier-Bresson being asked (at 34:45 min) how Matisse and Bonnard influenced his work. He replied, “”My nourishment comes from them.” But as we take a look at the following examples, we’ll see that Bresson also picked up some knowledge of separating the shapes within his photos. We’ll take a look at other photographers who use the same technique and why it is something every photographer, cinematographer, and painter should strive for.
