By just looking at this painting you can tell there is design going on in the background. Just look at the peculiar angles of his face and beard. ┬áIt’s a simple portrait, but that doesn’t mean Van Gogh didn’t apply his knowledge of design. The masters knew they had to hold up to the high standards set before them if they wanted to be forever remembered.
